I got a lot of comments and curiosity on my recent blog post, 12 WordPress Security Measures You Can't Afford to Overlook, asking for more information on how to change your user's nickname in WordPress so it displays the nickname and not your login username. This is easily done when you create a user or even after the user has been created.
In this video I show you how to change the nickname and the display nickname on site as choice.
A few things to note–all users are created based on an email address. You cannot create a new user with an existing email address associated in the system. If you have a username that is “admin” make a new user (using another email address), give that new user administer rights (type), choose a nickname and set that nickname as the display name, and choose a super-cryptic secure password. Save the new user. Now log out and log in as the new user. Now you can delete that old “admin” user and you can associate any posts made with that “admin” user to the new user name/nickname!
